Owner's Notes:
Assembly was brilliant and incredibly neat. Gears shift easily and without fuss. Front and rear disc control handles quite well. A light frame moves the body easily. Tires propel without slippage in wet conditions. Artist Notes: Replaced original seat with something much more comfortable. Calibrated absorption to optimized levels. Rider Notes: Acceleration was adequate, although cruising speed must be raised to a more suitable standard of parsec "momentum."Personal Notes: It has "character."

The bike is junk. The bike is way too heavy. The gears make endless noise and can not be adjusted to eliminate the noise. On the 4th use, the chain snapped.

Mongoose Women's Woodland Bicycle (White) Review

Mongoose Women's Woodland Bicycle (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this bike for my wife who is 5'3" and it is the perfect height for her. The bike in general is decent but there are a lot of assembly issues. It came partially assembled meaning the front tire, handlebars and seat weren't attached. If you are not familiar with assembling bikes this can be a nightmare putting this bike together. First the front brake magnets had fallen out of the front disc brake and were loose in the bottom of the box which I didn't notice until after I mounted the wheel and realized the brakes weren't engaging. What this caused to happen is in the housing behind the brake pads there are ball bearings that when you squeeze the brake lever they turn and put pressure on the pads pushing them into the disc to stop the bike, these fell out also because the pads weren't holding them in place. I had to call the seller and they sent a replacement front break very fast. Problem two was the handlebars and gear shifters. The bars always come backwards for packaging but they mounted the shifters upside down on the wrong sides of the handlebars and the wires were all criss crossed. Spinning the handle bars around isn't a problem but getting the handle grips off to switch the shifters can be tricky, I used an air compressor to blow air into the hole on the end of the grip and they slid right off, otherwise they are on preety tight and are hard to get off. Once I got the grips off and switched the shifters and untangled the wires everything was good just minor brake adjustments. The bike looks great and rides really well just really poor assembly and the factory that is why I gave this a 4 star, if they had 3 1/2 that is more realistic.

I bought this particular bike because it gave me more bike for my buck - on sale for $250-down from $399.00. When I opened the box and saw the frame I was very pleased. THen once it was put together - It LOOKED phenomenal! I've had it and have been riding every weekend for the last 2 months and it handles great!the dual suspension makes a difference. The seat, is not the most comfortable, but once I purchased the gel cover, I was in heaven. I get alot of compliments on the bike - people who are not in the "know" take me for a serious rider (which I'm not)based on the appearance of the bike. So, if you are not trying to spend alot of money but would like a quality dual suspension mountain bike. I think this is your best bet!

To start out, I got the bike on Christmas day. I set it up, (put together patially wrong) Took the kids ot for a ride and noticed that the chain kept popping when I peddled somewhat aggesively. Almost had a good crash due to this popping of the chain. Got almost home and noticed about 12 different teeth on the sprockets had broken off! 2 hours in! So far the rest seems pretty nice though. I found out that they use old Shimano toolings from the 70s. It is made by a Chinese company (Very poorly) I am no bike mechanic, and im a big guy (225 lbs) May be a good call for a lighter rider.

Absolutely great! Kids loved it and worked out what to do in about 10 minutes. Easy to build and seems pretty strong. Only problem we've had is the inlet manifold (plastic I think) cracked making it unuseable, probably just a fult in the plastic. Waiting for Go-Ped customer support to reply though.

Polaris RMK Adult Dual Suspension Bike Review

Polaris RMK Adult Dual Suspension Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
11-29-10. This will not be a standard review but will have some helpful hints---hope it will help you.
My Goal was to find (using reviews and ratings) the best dual suspension/disk brake mountain bike
for under 300 dollars
Based on reviews and ratings from different web sites it came down to the following three.
1. GMC Topkick, made by Kent Bicycle.
2. Polaris RMK made by Ming Cycle in Taiwan (seen above)
3. Victory Vegas Low---Ming Cycle
Although the GMC Topkick is a 4-star bike, I ruled it out because it is more bulky looking and it
is a few pounds heavier than the other 2 bikes and there were many reviews claiming a front dérailleur
shifting (inherent) problem and complaints the handlebars could not be raised.
The Polaris RMK comes in with great reviews and a 4 1/2 star rating. But in just one day Amazon raised
its price from 199 dollars to 267 dollars(nov 20,2010). -----After some more investigation it turned out
that the Polaris RMK is exactly the same bike as the Victory Vegas Low only with different colors and name.
The Victory is selling for a lot less than the Polaris and is (as of this date)189 dollars at Meijer,(where
I bought mine, see below).
The Polaris and the Victory are made by Ming Cycle out of Taiwan and distributed by an
American company---Cycle Force Group. Ming Cycle makes different brand name mountain bikes,
like Polaris, Kawasaki, Victory, Mantis, all of these can be found on Amazon and retailers
like Wall Mart, Target and Sears.------As it turns out the Polaris and the Victory are Ming's top
of the line dual suspension mountain bike with upgraded wheels and front disk brake and 19"frame
and generally reviewed and rated better than some of the mountain bikes that sell for more. So based
on reviews and ratings I think for a dual suspension mountain bike with front disk brakes
the Polaris or Victory is the way to go ---except that the Polaris price has been increased too much,
So go with the Victory Vegas Low, its the same bike!!!! and can be found on amazon but It can be bought
as of todays date 11-30-10 at Wall mart or Meijer's for under 200 dollars and with free shipping.

---A review for Victory is a review for Polaris and vise/versa. See my complete review for the Victory
on Amazon and Walmart.----Best dual suspension mountain bike for the money. 5stars
12-12-2010---Now Amazon lowered their price again even lower than the Victory Vegas and you can find it on Miejers for 187 dollars. Apparently Amazon raises the price when Walmart and Miejiers runs out of stock, then when they get restocked and have the lower price Amazon lowers their price------Anyways they are both the same bike so you have your choice of colors and one of them will always have the lower price.

Add in knobby all-terrain tires and you have everything you need for the road ahead.
Amazon.com Bicycle Buying Guide Finding the Right Bike To really enjoy cycling, it's important to find a bicycle that works for you. Here are some things to keep in mind when you're in the market for a new bike:
The Right Ride In general, bikes are broken down into three major categories:
Road and Racing Bikes--As a general rule, road and racing are built for speed and longer distances on paved surfaces. Thinner tires, lightweight 29-inch (700c) wheels, and drop bars that allow for a more aerodynamic position are the norm. Most road bikes, regardless of price, offer many gears for tackling both hilly and flat terrain.
Mountain Bikes--With their larger tires, hill-friendly gearing, and upright position, mountain bikes are very popular for all types of riding, both on pavement and off. Mountain bikes that are designed specifically for rugged trail use typically feature a suspension fork. Some may have rear suspension, as well. A quick change of the tires on any mountain bike--even one that you use regularly on trails--adds to its versatility and makes it a worthy street machine.
Comfort/Cruiser Bikes--For tooling around on bike paths, light trails, or for cruising a quiet beach-side lane, comfort/cruiser bikes are the ticket. With a super-relaxed riding position, padded seats, and limited or no gearing, these bikes are made for enjoying the scenery and having fun with the family.

The Right Price A bike's price boils down to three essentials: frame materials, bike weight, and component quality and durability.
Entry-level--You'll find a wide range of comfort and cruiser bikes in this category, as well as some lower-end mountain bikes and road bikes. Most will have steel frames and components that are designed to last for several years with frequent use.
Mid-range--Bikes in this range may feature a lighter aluminum frame with mid-range components that keep performing after miles of use. If you're looking for a quality bike that is relatively lightweight and will stand up to abuse, this is the "sweet spot." Most serious commuter and touring bikes fall into this category, as do mid-range mountain bikes with a decent front suspension.
High-end--Racers and serious enthusiasts who expect lightweight, high-performance components will want to stick to this category. For road bikes, exotic frame materials (carbon fiber, titanium) and ultra lightweight components can add thousands to the price tag. Mountain bikes in this class often feature advanced front and rear suspension technology, as well as components designed to handle lots of rugged trail action.

The Right Size Fit is crucial for comfort, control, and proper power and endurance on a bike. Here are some basic bike fit tips:
Stand-over Height--To find out if a bike's overall height fits your body, measure your inseam. Next, determine how much clearance you'll need between your crotch and the top tube of the bike. For a mountain bike, you'll want three to five inches of clearance. A road bike should offer between one and two inches of clearance, while a commuter bike should have two to four inches. Compare the stand-over height for a given bike to your measurements (inseam + clearance) to determine the right bike height.
Top Tube Length--You can measure your torso to get a good estimate of proper top tube length. First, make a fist and extend your arm. Measure from the center of your fist to the end of your collarbone (the part that intersects your shoulder). Next, measure your torso by placing a book against your crotch with the spine facing up. Measure from the spine to the bottom of your throat (the spot between your collarbones). Finally, add the two measurements (arm length + torso length), divide the number in half, and subtract six inches. This is your approximate top tube length. Compare this number to a bike's posted top tube length. You can allow for about two inches longer or shorter, as most bikes can be adjusted via stem length/height and saddle fore/aft position to make fine adjustments to the fit.
Bikes for Women--Proportionally, women tend to have a shorter torso and longer legs than men. Bike makers design women's bikes that offer a shorter top tube and many comfort/cruiser bikes built for women may also provide more stand-over clearance.

The Right Accessories When you make a bike purchase, don't forget these crucial add-ons:
Helmet (this is a must!)
Seat pack
Lock
Hydration pack, or water bottle and bottle cage
Spare tubes
Portable bike pump
Gloves

Go-Ped GTR46R Trail Ripper Gas Powered Full Suspension Off-Road Scooter (Sinister Black) Review

Go-Ped GTR46R Trail Ripper Gas Powered Full Suspension Off-Road Scooter (Sinister Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The engine is way too powerful for this scooter. If you wide open throttle it (WOT) out of the box, something IS going to bust. There is a "break-in" period on this scooter, you need to ride it well below 20mph for about 3-4 tanks of fuel, and NEVER WOT during this "break-in" period.
Other things to remember about this scooter:
- The bars have a tendency to become wobbly. If this happens, simply hand tighten the large washer on the bottom of the handlebars, where the handlebar pole connects to the frame.
- Always mix gas & oil as exactly as you can, as described in the owner's manual. Too lean (not enough oil) or to rich (too much oil) will ruin the engine.
- After you break in the engine (like I described earlier), have a professional small engines shop tune the carb for you. This will offer the most power and efficiency for the altitude and climate you live in. Be sure to tell them what gas/oil mixture you are running through it so they can tune the carb accordingly.
- Always be sure to keep the chain well lubed and at a proper tension. To adjust the chain, loosen two matching nuts under the engine on the right side, the engine will move up/down and that will tighten/loosen the chain. Once the chain is adjusted to your liking, fully tighten the two nuts back up.
- Periodically check all nuts and bolts to make sure they are nice and tight. Use threadlocker on any bolts you feel necessary.
- And last but not least, keep the engine (and the rest of the scooter) clean! Use a damp rag to wipe it down and a dry rag to dry it after riding in rough conditions. Keeping the scooter clean will prevent dirt from coming off and catching in the chain.
One last word of advice, never WOT this scooter for any long period of time. The engine on this beast is much too powerful for the scooter itself, and something will go wrong if you WOT for long periods of time.
If proper care is taken, riding this thing is a freaking blast. It's the ultimate thrill ride.

GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike Review

GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a good bike - the best feature is the dual suspension. Light and easy dropping off curbs on the way to work - huge difference from my hardtail mountain bike.
Disc brakes are nice to have, on front and rear - work much better than rim brakes. To adjust them hold the brake lever in and tighten them down via a hex wrench on the opposite center of the disc brake until the pads are flush against the disc, then turn back until the brake lever has enough play in it.
The rims are v-shaped, and narrow - much more so than my other bikes. It was quite a job to add tuffy liners to to the tires. I think I will have a bike shop change the tire next time they need it. The hard part is getting the tire off and on those narrow rims. The people at REI said to squeeze on the sides of the tire as you put it on, so both ends go deep into the rim.
Be careful when you put the front tire on that you have the fork facing forward. (I had it backwards the first time). Make sure the big round points on U part of the fork point towards the front of the bike.
The tires are very knobby. If you ride on the street a lot you might want to change them to something with a smoother tread in the middle.
The bike weighs 38 pounds put together - not exactly light, but since I ride for pleasure and exercise, and don't plan to race, the weight is fine.
If you get it for less than 150, (what Amazon is selling it for the week of Feb 20), it is quite a bargain. (disc brakes by themselves often add $100 to a bike).
I raised the seat pretty high for a comfortable ride at my height, and found the handlebars are two low. I fixed this by adding some handlebar extenders which allow me to be more upright when I am not braking.
To my knowledge you can't raise the stem on the handlebars without adding a spacer. If anyone finds out otherwise, please comment to this post.
Another possibility (besides handlebar extensions), would be to replace the handlebar with one that has more of a rise to it.
The Topkick is made by Kent Bicycle Company for GMC. They also make some Cadillac Mountain Bikes - the Cadillac AM2.4 and AM2.7, which are sold on Amazon. They are both dual suspension with disc brakes and have a very similar frame as the Topkick. Both bikes sale for over $1000.

Boasting a full-suspension, extra-strong aluminum frame, the GMC Topkick mountain bike is an ideal choice for both trail riding and rough city riding. The frame employs a floating beam suspension design mated to a Zoom suspension fork with elastomer/spring technology. This gives the bike a smooth, steady performance even on rough terrain. The Topkick's drivetrain, meanwhile, is outfitted with Microshift push shifters that control Shimano's tried-and-true TZ-30GS derailleur. The drivetrain also offers a strong aluminum wheel set with a V-shape rim profile and high-flange alloy hubs. And to keep you stopping smoothly in any circumstance, the Topkick boasts front and rear Promax disc brakes. Disc brakes are vastly superior to rim brakes, especially under adverse road conditions. True to its GMC roots, the Topkick mountain bike is rugged, good looking, and built for the long haul.

Victory Vegas Low Adult Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) Review

Victory Vegas Low Adult Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels)
Average Reviews:

This bike is the same exact bike as the Polaris RMK also found on Amazon There are reviews listed for the Polaris RMK with a rating of 4 1/2 stars, so those review and ratings will give you an idea about this bike as they are the same bike except for different paint and names. (see my review on the Polaris RMK)
They are both made by Ming Cycle in Taiwan and distributed by an American
company---Cycle Force Group. Both bikes are the Mings top of the line dual suspension mountain
bike with disk front brake and upgraded wheels(rims)and 19"frame. Generally The Polaris is getting
better reviews and ratings (different web sites) than the other dual suspension mountain bikes that
are under 300 dollars including Mongoose.
This bike is a great buy at this price (WalMart 199 dollars) and is the same bike as the higher priced Polaris.
Also at this time the Victory is selling for 189 dollars at Meijer's----thats where I bought mine
and I will follow up with a complete review when I get the Victory on the road.
Dec 8, 2010
I received the bike, very well packaged and undamaged, It was easy to put together, only had to attach front wheel,seat,handlebars,front/rear reflectors and front brake caliper. All cables were attached and I didn't have to make any adjustments. The bike rides smooth, shifts smooth and quality of construction is beyond my expectations. I cant believe the upgraded alloy wheels and 19" frame--usually only found on much more expensive bikes. My only complaints would be----cheap pedals--and cheap tires. This bike and the Polaris RMK (same bike with different colors) have to be the best dual suspension mountain bikes for for under 300 dollars. I give it a five star for value for the money----As the word gets out, I wouldn't be surprised to see the price on these bikes go way up after the first of the year, The Polaris is already priced higher and still going up---and the victory is the same bike for less!!!!G R E A T D E A L
12-12-10 ----Right now the Polaris is selling for less than the Victory on Amazon and Miejers. The prices fluctuate back and forth on both bikes. Anyways they are the same bike and you get your choice of colors and the price will always be lower for one of them.

I do quite a bit of exterior electrical work and this hard hat is the most comfortable, best looking one I've ever worn. The ratchet adjustment is great when I have to tighten it in windy weather or loosen it up to keep the sun out of my eyes. The band on the front is great as well. Much better than the standard ones that cling to your forehead and leave a mark when you take it off. I highly recommend this to anyone who is required to wear one in the work area. The only thing I'll add is that if you're in hot weather, get a white one so it's not as bad in the sun.

I live off campus and purchased a GTR Roadster to commute to school and back. This thing is GREAT! Good gas milage, good speed (posted speeds on our roads are 25-35 mph.) My trip is about 3.5 miles round trip, and I sometimes make the trip 2 times a day. I enjoy the ride, and look forward to hitting the road, even if I am heading to class! As already mentioned, the specs listed are not correct. Correct are listed below:The bike that comes is still a great bike. The SR-suntour XCR for has a remote lockout which works great. While rockshox are more well known, the fork has handled anything I've thrown at it. The only dissapointment in the bike so far is the wheels are a little less than 'great'. Stock wheels tend to be crap most the time, but these gave out on my first real trail ride. Taco'd with little to no force. Otherwise, its a great spec'd bike for the cost. The hydarulic brakes work adequatly and the shifting is nice and smooth. Overall a great bike for anyone new to the sport.Frame & Fork

Pacific Chromium Boy's Dual-Suspension Mountian Bike (20-Inch Wheels) Review

Pacific Chromium Boy's Dual-Suspension Mountian Bike (20-Inch Wheels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading concerns others had I was a bit apprehensive about buying this bike for our 7 year old son. My fears were largely unfounded, though, as the bike has been pretty much what I expected - an inexpensive dual suspension bike made in China.
The box it arrived in was damaged, but nothing was missing and nothing was bent.
Assembly was not hard (assuming a small degree of technical know-how) - probably the most intricate issue was adjusting the front and back brake shoes for positioning and even pull. All told it took about 30 minutes to unpack and assemble. Our son enjoys riding it, is getting used to his first "geared" bike, and has put the bike on the ground a few times - so far it is holding up nicely.
Given what I was looking for - a reasonably-priced bike that our son will use for a couple of years - this fits the bill.

Ill start off by saying if your just looking for a commute bike you might as well make it a comfortable ride, right? Well this has it, I was looking for something to get back and forth to work with. This in mind i live where there is a lot of curbs and bad roads etc. so I wanted something that had some suspension. 217 bucks plus i bought the Kryptonite 2 lock (35$) i say you cant beat it. It came the day it said it would, box in perfect condition and only need to adjust cables and attach front wheel, just a smidge of an adjustment to the derauiler and everything was just they way it was intended to be. oh and make sure you clean front disc brake BEFORE the first ride to insure it brakes-in the correct way. hope i help any furture buyers out there.

Pacific Chromium Girl's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike Review

Pacific Chromium Girl's Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike

So I got this bike because it looked really pretty and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a bike, though I love to ride and my last one got stolen. So I got it fast and everything seemed ok but when putting it together, the handle bars (where you insert them to connect them to the bike) seemed to be a little out of line and I had to use a tool to hammer the metal to the perfect shape in order to fit in the insert for the handle bars. I eventually go it to work and that was ok. Also for some reason the other day when I was riding (I have had the bike for close to a month now and everything seems pretty good so far) but the pedal fell off. And I know I put it on there securely because it has been good for a month of riding, but it fell off in the middle of my riding, so I was a little disappointed in that. I love the bike, the color, and I cant afford another right now so I hope that these minor things won't continue to cause me trouble. Overall, its a good bike.

Titan Fusion Dual Suspension Mountain Bike (Orange, 26-Inch) Review

Titan Fusion Dual Suspension Mountain Bike (Orange, 26-Inch)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this bike as part of my plan to cut down on both cost and time getting around NYC, and for all intensive purposes it has accomplished both. This bike works flawlessly for the most part, and I would recommend it to most people looking to purchase a bike.
I say most people because there are a couple of short comings with the Titan Fusion, which if improved upon would make this bike excellent. The fist qualm that I've, is the extra weight that this bike has. Although not extremely heavy I've ridden other bikes that weight less than the Titan Fusion, while at the same time managing to maintain all of the same features. Second, the front shifter is off and must be replaced (contacted Titan customer support). I know some of you might argue that the shifter and derailer are not adjusted properly, thus the difficulty in changing gears. However, after failing to adjust the front gear to the appropriate position I sought out professional help at a local bike store. The mechanic complained that the shifter is not moving the derailer the required distance to change gears.
In conclusion, I would recommend the Titan Fusion to most people who don't mind the extra weight. I would also add that the frame was designed with heavy abuse in mind.
Ps. One of the most attractive bikes that I've seen. I've had friends come up to me and compliment my bike on its looks.
