Bicycle Generator Kit 300 Watts DC Pedal Power Generator With Dynamo, Belt, Plate, Stand Review

Bicycle Generator Kit 300 Watts DC Pedal Power Generator With Dynamo, Belt, Plate, Stand
Average Reviews:

I use this system to charge a 33 Amp Hour battery through a blocking diode and it works pretty good. For those technical geeks, the output during the same one hour period from this bike generator (measured by WattsVIEW power monitor) was 5.4 Amp Hoursand ~70 Watt Hours. During a one hour period, I was able to bring the battery from 0% charged to 40% charged. I have also used this generator setup to charge a Duracell 600Watt Powerpack which was nice so I could plug in regular 110V AC appliances into it like laptop, computer, cell phone charger, lights, television, blender, and more.
What I don't like about this system is that I have to take the rear tire off my bike to put the belt on. ALso, if I try to put out anything over 200 Watts, I have to make sure the belt is really tight, or it will begin to slip.

X-Treme XB-300Li High Performance Electric Bicycle Review

X-Treme XB-300Li High Performance Electric Bicycle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this bike elsewhere but due to lack of reviews there's this one here. Bought the black version.
The basics: Nice looking bike, both throttle and pedal assist (both can be used at the same time even), dual disc brakes, Lithium Ion battery that key locks in place and is positioned well, X-tream customer support is 'okay' and prompt. 7 speed rear derailer. Ugly stickers on the battery and fork simple to peel off. Fairly lightwieght at 52lbs. Push to check battery meter on the battery itself. Includes headlight, bell and handlebar battery charger meter.
The bad: My charger arrived dead. Xtream customer support is odd as two different people will awnser a support ticket and contradict each other. Charger and battery use a 3 prong mic type plug and everything says positive pole is #1 hole and negative #3 when in reality both the battery and charger are configured pole 1 positive and pole 2 negative. I have to pay shipping to warrenty the bad charger. 30 day warrenty on electronics and battery and 60ish days on the frame. Included tool kit is horribly cheap, replace immediatly (almost had to leave the bike since the wrench stripped a front wheel bolt and front wheel has to come off to fit in the car. Jam the flathead screwdriver between bolt and wrench to fix problem). No explaination for the two included 30amp fuses (take off the battery top and the fuse is there). Peddle assist is only 1:1. X-tream customer support closed on Sat and Sun. Rear derialer might have to be adjusted by the user, mines outta whack in 6th gear. Manual states motor is shut off in 1st gear, when it's actually 7th gear (but throttle still works).
The iffy: Controller is at the base of the peddles and not gasketed. Push to check charge on battery itself seems to only show charge left on throttle only mode. Handgrips are too short at 4 inches long. Max rider weight is 350lbs, 100-150lbs over pretty much all the other bikes and not really sure how well the bike will work at 350lbs. Maybe it's wired wrong on my part but headlight turns on even when off when hitting a minor bump, only noticed this at night, have to check on a day run. There's a hidden iffy involving the battery 'on' state that people will have to figure out on their own, I haven't had the brass to test the problem but it's not a problem if no one knows about it.
The so-so: Only 24V but appears can be upped to 36V, maybe 48V without much problem after the short warrenty expires. Involves replacing the battery, controller and charger. Included headlight is alright I guess but don't think the wiring will last long. Handlebar battery meter is odd (explained below) and probably not too accurate.
The good: The handlebar battery meter, when it works correctly, will show power remaining in two ways. When you peddle you'll get say 4 bars, stop peddling and throttle and you'll get 2 bars left, with throttle on and peddling you'll go back to 4. Wonky but kinda interesting. Throttle responds quickly and is a half throttle so it's easy on the hands. Lithium Ion and not Sealed Lead Acid! Battery is nice and light.
The abstract: I've basically never excercised ever, drink at night, smoke and get exhaused just from sitting it seems (slight exgageration). Only 150ish pounds at 5'10" but I wouldn't get far on a regular bike they're too exhausting and not fun anymore at 39 years old and their seats sucks. So took the 300LI out today to a closed road and only planned on going a mile or so to re-learn how to ride a bike. Re-learned quickly and ended up riding about 7 miles! of bike path, most of it in a heavy headwind. When my legs got tired (didn't take long), stop peddling, throttle on and recover, hit a hill throttle on and peddle. The bike was rather quiet most of the time, sometimes there was a slight whine that was usually the poorly adjusted front disc brake but at other times there was no reason for the barely heard whine. Other times I could smell a slight electrical burning smell which is always bad but everything ran fine and it was a first run and towards the end of the ride when I stopped for a cig no burning smell was there.
Tried riding the bike without power. It works but there is a slight resistence drag that's kinda annoying and is there even under power when coasting without throttle. So run out of battery you can still peddle normally but I'd be cursing up a storm because of the motor drag.
Conclusion: I had enough fun on the trial ride that ended up 6 miles further then intended that I slapped a basket on the included rear carrier and it's replacing my car for all the 10 mile or less trips I make. Look around before buying, $1300 is too much, $900-$1000 (including shipping) is about right and that's just because this bike is loaded with extras but still those extra's need to be adjusted for effiencey. And get a good lock, not a cable one, something like the Kryptonite 'Forgetaboutit'(sp) or so.
If you want to build your own with a front motor hub (the 300LI is a rear hub) make sure you use a steel frame, not aluminum. Just a minor note.
Also the 310 is the folding version of this bike.

Like A Bike Forest Walking Bike Review

Like A Bike Forest Walking Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this bike for our son's second birthday. Now, he is three and we have gotten SO much joy and use out of this bike. It has held up wonderfully, despite daily use/abuse. It spends its days muddy and damp on a horse ranch, its nights in the house and it has withstood these conditions remarkably well. This bike will not only see my children through, it will absolutely be kept as an 'heirloom toy' for our grandchildren to use! I was so hesitant to spend the money, but it's well worth it. After direct comparison with other brands, I was happy to splurge on this beautiful piece of form AND function, joined.
Editing the review to add the following: My son is now 5.5 and loves that LikeABike as much as ever. He still fits it, weight-wise, but was getting VERY rough with it, jumping and grinding and generally abusing it. I put it away, telling him he was going to break it as he was too heavy. It's now waiting for his 17 month old, 31" tall sister to get tall enough for it, as she is quite willing to try even now, but her inseam just isn't long enough yet. I'm sorry I had to put it away at all, b/c it's a fantastic toy that was still seeing hours of use a day. But, a gung-ho 44 lb 5 yr old on a farm was really abusing it, despite how well-made it is. He still asks for it. I have contemplated buying the larger version for him, but he's now riding a GT 16" bike with 7 gears and hand brakes. He would be SO thrilled with the bigger version and would surely get much use from it, though.
(If you need a bike for the very small ones, LikeABike does make a shorter version.)

With its knobby, inflatable tires, distinctive dark green cotton seat, and green mudguard, the Forest Walking Bike by LIKEaBIKE is the ultimate all-terrain balance bike. Designed to introduce multiple children to the art of two-wheeled riding, the Forest Walking Bike boasts a sturdy, made-to-last construction of high-quality laminated beech wood and high-grade steel. Ideal for children from two to five years old, the Forest Walking bike has a four-position adjustable seat height from 12.5 to 16.1 inches to accommodate growing children of different heights. The bike features a comfortable cotton bike seat, secure rubber handle grips, and grey felt between the gaps in the front fork and tires, so that little fingers never get pinched. In addition, the bike has a no-sharp-edge design for maximum safety. Unlike traditional bikes with training wheels, the Forest Walking bike allows children between the ages of two and five to ride independently, gaining confidence, and developing motor skills and sense of balance.
Walking Bike Versus Traditional Bikes with Training Wheels: The Walking Bike by Like A Bike provides families with a real alternative to rickety training wheels and the backaches associated with teaching children to bike. With the Walking bike kids as young as two years old can have a successful experience of riding on two wheels. With no pedals, the Walking Bike allows children to first straddle the bike like a hobby horse. As they become more familiar with bike they start to walk with it, and then run, practicing balance and sitting on the seat as they go. In no time the little rider becomes more confident and by pushing off, picks up speed. If the bike starts to tip, kids instinctively regain their balance with their feet. In marked contrast to first bikes equipped with training wheels, kids learn to develop balance first, and build the confidence for two-wheeled locomotion. And, unlike a pedal bike, kids can re-establish balance on their own so parents don't have to run alongside the bike.<
p>Like A Bike Versus Other Walking/Balance Bikes: The Like A Bike Walking Bike is designed to provide children with a safe first biking experience. The unique design has no sharp edges, and the gap between the frame and the fork is filled with felt, so little fingers won't get pinched. The felt also prevents the front wheel from making sharp turns, destabilizing the bike, and causing accidents.
Unlike most balance/walking bikes, the Like A Bike Walking Bike is equipped with inflated all-terrain tires that can be used inside and out. Inflated all-terrain tires make taking the bike on rough and bumpy paths comfortable for the rider and a rear-wheel mudguard holds off the dirt. Equally good on city sidewalks, the Like A Bike Walking Bike's beautiful construction is always a head-turner.
Finally, unlike the majority of walking/balance bikes, the Like A Bike Walking Bike has an adjustable seat height so that the bike will actually grow with the child for many years of use from two to five years old. The adjustable seat height also makes it possible for multiple children to use the bike. A seat height extension (sold separately) is also available for taller children.

Features:
No-pedal walking and balance design
Develops motor skills and balance
No sharp edges for safety
Felt cushioning between frame and fork
Inflatable tires
Rear wheel mudguard
Cotton seat
Rubber grips for handle bar
Seat pole extension available (sold separately)

Specifications:
Recommended age range: 2 to 5 years old

Women's Forge Athena-V Comfort Bike - Hope Pink (15") Review

Women's Forge Athena-V Comfort Bike - Hope Pink (15)

This is an excellent bike. I purchased this for my wife for Christmas. I couldn't be happier with the choice. Since we have lost several friends to this damed decease, my wife loved the fact that some of the purchase price is a donation to breast cancer research. The Hope Pink color is perfect to the help bring awareness to breast cancer research.
I pulled the unassembled bike from the packaging and put it together in less than 10 minutes and didn't have to adjust anything. Super-lite, easy to ride and very comfortable. I would have purchased a Forge hybrid for myself but I couldn't find a large enough frame size. Other thoughts, don't hesitate to buy a Forge bike excellent quality.

This was upgrade/replacement to worn crankset (Shimano) on 2009 Stumpjumper Elite. The chaninrings come in several custom colors and the carbon cranks are beautiful. The "Money Green" matched my color scheme perfectly. Be advised that you have to replace the bottom bracket with a SRAM. My local shop ([...]) did the work. Work great with my XTR derailuer and XT components.

My new electric bike rocks!!!! It is great rain or shine. Usually I ride it 4 days a week, work is on 5 miles from my home and I leave my car in the garage and take the bike. The removable battery is the best, I charge the battery at my office and have a full battery when I get off work.
I spent a lot of time reading about electric bikes, the EWheels bike was the best price and value. I am so happy I purchased this bike.

Zero X Electric Motorcycle Review

Zero X Electric Motorcycle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the upgraded model Jan. 09. It is easy and light to handle with all the torque you want when geared to 40 mph. Wheelie popping power will last close to an hour. For serenity and relaxation, you can't beat a quiet ride on a trail through the woods, and it will last you close to two hours. I have come around a corner and surprised deer 30 feet away. It's that quiet. And operational cost is so low. It only costs me about a dime to have all of that fun. Recharges in one to two hours. And if you have a spare battery pack, you can switch out the old one (in five minutes) and ride for another hour or two while the first one is charging. No expenses for replacement plugs, or mufflers or tune ups. I have had no problems in the rain, the snow, or a couple big mud holes. And if I want to fly through the woods on some logging roads or fire trails, I switch the rear sprocket to their 61 tooth and have a top speed of 50 (which is plenty for me).
And for the people who don't like clutches, there isn't one. You just twist the throttle and go. If you can ride a mountain bike, you can ride this bike. You just don't have to pedal or push up hill, which combined with the speed, makes this a whole lot more fun.

A full-sized, high-performance electric motorcycle, the Zero X is built from the ground up using revolutionary electric motorcycle technology. Boasting 50 pounds of torque, the proprietary Z-Force drive train supplies the raw power needed to stealthily race up hills, fly over jumps, and plunge through streams. Elimination of combustion noise makes aggressive riding possible without the disruption of nature or neighbors. The Z-Force drive train and specially-engineered, aircraft-grade aluminum frame combine to form a motorcycle that is fast, light, and clean. An exceptional power-to-weight ratio and spontaneous acceleration make the Zero X stand out in the dirt.
Frame Welded by hand by highly-skilled aluminum welders, the Zero X features double pass welds in critical areas and other techniques to ensure against failures. After welding, the entire frame is heat treated to restore the strength around the weld areas. The heat treatment process involves heating the frame in a furnace and then solution-bath quenching the hot metal. Finally, critical areas such as pivots, brake mounts, and chain-guide mounts are re-milled for absolute accuracy.
Hydroformed top tub for increased strength and reduced weight
Massive swingarm for increased strength and torsional rigidity (better cornering and tracking)
Large cylindrical swingarm cross tube for increased stiffness and suspension response
Thru-axle rear hub for exponentially increased strength and rigidity
Entire frame is shot-peened and anodized for resistance to corrosion and abrasion
Organic frame gusseting for increased strength and smoother body lines

Motor and EnergyZero only uses safe second-generation lithium ion cells to ensure against thermal runaway (fire). The power packs also feature an intelligent monitoring system that constantly tracks the voltage and temperature of each and every cell. Additionally, the power packs deliver 300 amps of current without overheating, offering a strong power-to-weight ratio. Zero's permanent magnet electric motor delivers over 20 horsepower and requires very little maintenance.
Drivetrain To accommodate the Zero X's increased traction and ability to accelerate in the dirt a hardened steel 420 chain and direct drive gearing are used. The result is a stronger and more durable drivetrain that puts the power from the throttle directly into the dirt.
Hardened steel 420 Chain
Front and rear accompanying 420 Sprockets
Larger rear sprocket mounting/bolt pattern for increased durability and better management of high torque acceleration

Suspension The Zero suspension system is tough enough to handle monstrous jumps and includes custom-built, fully-adjustable hydraulic front forks. The rear suspension is a unique double diamond swingarm and adjustable coil-spring rear shock.
Handling To take full advantage of the Zero X's spontaneous acceleration, the handling was refined based on the comments of pro riders. The result is that this electric dirt bike provides the control you need for quick handling in tight situations.
Direct mount (to fork crown) double clam stem for increased rigidity and control
Increased rise and reduced reach stem for better control and stability
Wider, taller, and stronger full sized dirt bike handlebar
Higher strength hardened race headset for longer life and smoother turning

Brakes
6 pot calipers front and rear
Larger 9-inch rotor in front
Increased reservoir size for more responsive braking under high strain
High thermal mass rear rotor for improved heat transfer

Instrument Panel and System Upgrades A quick look at the instrument panel tells you everything you need to know on the Zero X. All the important dials and switches are centrally located. The accompanying wiring system is also designed for increased safety and electrical system longevity. The Zero X also comes with a keyed ignition.
Easy access to gauges and switches with "quick look" clustered instrumentation
Light for increased awareness and safety
Key switch with solenoid for added safety, peace of mind, security and ease of use
Flush mounted rockers switches for speed settings (easy/sport and 30/50mph)
Integrated battery power connector for ease of use and durability
Integrated battery fuse for added safety in handling and adverse circumstances

Rear Wheel and Tire The Zero X comes with a beefy wheel setup on the rear for increased traction and durability. This means quicker acceleration, faster hill climbs, and more fun.
Tall knobbed and grippy full size rear tire measuring 17 x 3.5 inches
Large lugged high strength rear rim 17 x 2.5 inches
Thicker 12g spokes
Custom oversized and reinforced hub

Speed Controller The ZERO X Speed Controller features the ability to customize both the speed and acceleration. With a flip of the switch you can limit the top speed to a motorized bicycle legal limit of 30 miles per hour. Another switch sets the acceleration from beginner-friendly "easy" mode to a wheelie poppin' "sport" mode.

Lake Men's MXZ302 Cycling Shoe Review

Lake Men's MXZ302 Cycling Shoe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When the weather started getting cold, I was really having problems with my toes getting cold. With my regular cycling shoes, my toes would get cold and numb before the one hour mark and I'd just have to suffer through the next 20-30 minutes. This is probably due to both poor circulation and well ventilated shoes. I really thought I'd have to quite for the season.
I decided to try these shoes out and they've made a world of a difference. I've been out biking around the freezing mark, and after an hour and a half ride, my toes only feel the slightest tinge of cold. I'm very happy that I decided to get these and that I can keep on biking.
The waterproof-ness seems pretty good too. I'm not one to bike in the rain, but one warm day I was out and there were lots of large puddles from the snow melting, these shoes kept my feet dry.
Style-wise, they seemed kind of funny looking when looking at the online pictures. But now that I have them, I actually like wearing them.
Sizing. I consider myself a size 10, but I often bump up to an 11 to compensate for my wide feet. My Shimano shoes are 44. I got these in a 45 and they fit very well. From what I've read, Lake shoes tend to run wider than the average cycling shoe, and I'd have to agree. These do come in extra wide if you need. I will warn you that I had to adjust the cleats so the shoes were as far away from the crank arms as possible. When I had the cleat centered, the shoes would rub the crank arms.
Pricing. These are very expensive. I was able to get them on clearance and they were well worth the price I paid. To be honest though, I'd have a hard time justifying paying full price for these.
Bottom line, I love these shoes. And I'm wondering how stupid I'd look if I was to wear them with shorts when the weather gets warmer.

Are you serious about your athletic training? If so, turn to the Polar RS800CX Bike heart rate monitor watch, which offers a complete system for planning, monitoring, and analyzing every part of your training. This particular version of the RS800CX is equipped with a host of valuable tools, including a built-in altimeter, a WearLink W.I.N.D. heart rate transmitter with a soft textile chest strap, a copy of Polar ProTrainer 5 software, and a CS W.I.N.D. speed sensor designed to help you improve your cycling workouts. As a result, there's no better way for cyclists to create a comprehensive training workout that's efficient and effective. Even better, the watch lets you combine training sessions from different sports into a single file, so you can integrate your cycling workouts with separate running, hiking, and skiing sessions without missing a beat. It's the ultimate multi-sport training watch.
As a heart rate monitor, the RS800CX works by first checking your daily condition, and then guiding you to the ideal training intensity for your age and fitness level. Knowing your heart rate not only helps you reach your personal fitness goal, but also improves your physical condition in general, as it's vitally important to train at the appropriate intensity level. If you exercise too hard, you may quit before you reach the real benefit, but if you work out too leisurely, you'll struggle to lose weight at all. The RS800CX helps overcome these problems by encouraging you to map out a complete fitness routine. The watch also displays heart rate info in several ways, including as a percentage of your maximum heart rate, as beats per minute, and within a graphical target zone indicator. And should your heart rate exceed or dip below your target zone, the RS800CX will sound an alarm that helps you return to form.
The RS800CX also offers a variety of proprietary Polar functions. The ZonePointer, for example, is an audible and visual feature on the display of your watch that shows you where your current heart rate sits within your target heart rate zone. The Polar OwnZone mode, meanwhile, provides a customized target zone for individual exercise sessions. Finally, the Polar OwnCal mode shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session, as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can also set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure, helping you achieve both short-term and long-term goals. Other proprietary Polar functions include a Polar fitness test that measures your aerobic fitness at rest in just five minutes; a ZoneLock button that activates a target zone alarm while exercising; and an OwnOptimizer mode designed to keep you from undertraining or overtraining--a must when trying to improve overall performance.
Serious athletes will appreciate in the built-in altimeter, which measures your altitude, cumulative ascent, and cumulative descent. It's the Polar ProTrainer 5 software, however, that really helps the watch stand out. You can use the Polar ProTrainer 5 to plan your workout in advance--including creating maps and routes in conjunction with the G3 GPS sensor (sold separately)--and then transfer the settings to the RS800CX watch. Then, after training, you can analyze the results using versatile, customizable graphs to ensure a deeper understanding of your speed, exertion level, and distance. The software also includes a custom calendar that functions as a complete training log. Each time you transfer an exercise file to the program, the calendar automatically creates a diary entry with all your training data--a terrific option for athletes who want to monitor their workouts over the long term. The software even lets you export your GPS mapping routes to Google Earth, so you can view your exact training route or calculate mileage on the spot.
This version of the RS800CX comes with Polar's CS Speed Sensor W.I.N.D., a wireless bike-mounted sensor that helps you evaluate and analyze your cycling performance. In competition cycling, time is of the essence--you simply can't afford to fall too far behind the pack whether on the open road or in the velodrome. Thanks to the lightweight, aerodynamic CS sensor, however, you can take note of your current, average, and maximum speed readings throughout your training rides, so that you can get it right once the big race arrives. The CS communicates this speed data directly to the RS800CX, which analyzes the data in a variety of ways so that you can hone your long-term performance. The RS800CX also supports other optional W.I.N.D. sensors (sold separately) that are custom built for various training needs. The S3 Stride Sensor, for example, measures every stride you take while running, helping you perform better in competitive situations, while the aforementioned G3 GPS sensor accurately tracks your movement during less-traveled sports, such as canoeing, mountain biking, rowing, or Nordic skiing. With the purchase of all three W.I.N.D. sensors, your RS800CX will become an extremely versatile multi-sport training computer.
Other watch features include several recording options to help track your heart rate, calorie expenditure, distance, and more and save it in an exercise file (with 99 total files); water resistance to 50 meters; a Polar WebLink connection for transferring exercise data from your wrist unit to a computer; a 12/24-hour clock with a day/week indicator; a built-in backlight; an alarm with a snooze; and a low battery indicator. Sporting an attractive silver housing, the watch carries a two-year warranty.
Manufacturer's Warranty The original purchaser of this heart rate monitor is backed by a limited warranty that states that this product that the product will be free from defects in material or workmanship for two years from the date of purchase.
About Polar The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.

SIDI Diablo GTX Cycling Shoe Review

SIDI Diablo GTX Cycling Shoe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this shoe a few weeks ago in hopes of avoiding the use of booties on my long, wet Seattle commute. They look cool (if you can say that about a bike shoe) and keep my feet totally dry and warm despite mother nature's attempts to soak/freeze me.
My only gripe is that the heel of this shoe doesn't seem to "cup" my heel snugly; walking around in the shoe you can feel your heel slip up and down a bit - something I'd never experienced with any other SIDI shoe. Perhaps a ratchet buckle could have solved this? No idea. On the bike this completely unnoticeable, but it's kinda irritating when you're walking about.
Overall - a stellar product that's well worth the money if you spend a lot of time in the rain and hate booties.

SRAM i-Motion 9 9-Speed Internal Bicycle Hub (36H, 135mm) Review

SRAM i-Motion 9 9-Speed Internal Bicycle Hub (36H, 135mm)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have this (disc version) hub on my longtail cargo bike. The extended bike length required replacement of the original SRAM shift cable & housing, so I downloaded the SRAM TechManual (MY10) and found the important 'cable nipple' mounting dimensions within. If you are comfortable replacing shift cables, and know how to measure (millimeters) using a ruler, you too will be able to change the cable, although it requires more patience than standard cable setups.
It took me a few tries and configurations to get the right combination of keyed washers installed. (This might be due to the PMW dropouts I used.) I ended up modifying the washers slightly so they would LOCK the axle securely into the dropout without the need for a lot of torque applied to the axle nuts that hold the wheel on.
What SRAM doesn't say in their manual is that "you don't want ANY axle rotational movement, and the keyed washers (NOT axle nut torque) must insure this." High torque tightening the axle nuts results in uneven shift engagement, excessive noise in some gears, and also makes wheel removal/replacement more trouble than it should be.
Most customer complaints are probably due to this issue.
After over 1000 miles of daily commuting & cargo hauling on streets, sidewalks, dirt roads, and a small amount of single-track, I'm liking this hub.
Pros; Shifting at a standstill is a very convenient feature when Commuting! Or rather, waiting at stoplights.
TOTALLY silent when coasting.
Quick disconnect shift cable makes for super easy wheel removal/reinstall.
Cons; Weighs a ton (actually it's a little over 5 lbs.)
Correct use of keyed washers to prevent ANY axle rotation poorly explained in documentation.
Replacing shift cable is a little fussy.

Gore Bike Wear Men's Oxygen Jacket Review

Gore Bike Wear Men's Oxygen Jacket
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great jacket; super light weight and compact. I've ridden in several storms now and it keeps me mostly dry. It's a tight fit with a short torso; this feels fine on the bike, in a riding crouch, but off the bike it feels small. Of course, the jacket is for riding, so this isn't a major problem.

Dahon Speed D7 Folding Bike Review

Dahon Speed D7 Folding Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Delivery: the package comes in about one week, which exceeds my expectation. Everything is well-packaged.
The bike: it's pre-assembled, mostly. And very easy to do the rest. I don't need the manual to complete the bike, except for the magnetic latch that hold to folded frame together (actually it only needs a strong yank to unlock the latch). The complete bike loooks exactly like the one on the image.
The ride: This is my first 20" bicycle. First this thing is much nimbler and faster than my 26" cruiser bike I am using. The smaller wheel still gives a smooth ride, surprisingly. The brake is responsive. The saddle is OK for a one-hour-ride, but for longer ride, it feels uncomfortable.
The only minor defect is the fifth, sixth and sometimes the seventh gear keeps slipping to the lower gear.
The folding: it takes me about 10 seconds to fold this thing, probably because I am still new at it.
In general this is a good buy, and I recommend it.

Like its sporty cousin, the Speed D8, the Speed D7 offers features like a Work Hardened 4130 chromoly steel frame (which is 60% stronger than high tensile steel), but this version is more utilitarian for the urban rider. Its deluxe component package includes WeatherBeater Chromeplastic mudguards should you find yourself caught in a storm, fastrolling Dahon Roulez tires for dodging potholes, cars or aimless pedestrians, and an Arc Rack for toting your groceries or your touring gear. The D7 is a stylish, well-made, no hassle bike that fits your life and your budget. And it's very portable too...the D7 has a 13- by 25- by 32-inch folded size and weight of 27.1 pounds. Not the lightest bike that Dahonmakes, but versatile enough for your jaunts to the store, work or the park.
Assembly of the Bike: This bike comes mostly assembled. Minor assembly is required before the bike can be used.
About Dahon The Dahon story begins in 1975. At the time, Dr. David Hon, founder of the company, was a physicist at Hughes Aircraft Corporation in California, working on highly classified government research projects. Considered a leading expert in solid-state laser technology, Dr. Hon had already been awarded numerous U.S. patents for advancements in laser technology. Breakthrough laser technology that he and his team developed would later be used on NASA space shuttles, US missile guidance systems, and laser-guided anti-aircraft guns. Despite his success, Dr. Hon eventually found the work unfulfilling, because his energies were devoted to instruments of war, rather than for the betterment of society. Then, in 1975 came the oil and gas crisis and the seed for Dahon was sown.
One afternoon, in his third week of waiting in hour-long lines to buy gasoline for his car, Dr. Hon was struck by the magnitude of the world's dependence on oil, a non-renewable resource that would likely be depleted within the lifetime of his grandchildren. Brainstorming for solutions to weaken the world's dependence on oil, Dr. Hon ended up going back to his primary mode of transportation in college--the bicycle. Totally clean, and just as important, cheap enough for people around the world to access, Dr. Hon considered the bicycle to be a good candidate as a solution. While the bicycle was perfect for short trips, it was not practical for longer trips, for example, if you lived 30 miles from work. The bicycle needed to be improved and transformed, to make it more broadly functional and needed to integrate more readily with other forms of environmentally-sustainable transport, like trains and subways. Dr. Hon's solution: a portable folding bicycle.Working evenings and weekends in his garage over the next seven years, Dr. Hon built dozens and dozens of prototypes, trying to perfect a folding bicycle that would maintain the riding performance of a regular bicycle but would fold quickly and to a compact size.
Amazon.com Bicycle Buying Guide Finding the Right BikeTo really enjoy cycling, it's important to find a bicycle that works for you. Here are some things to keep in mind when you're in the market for a new bike:
The Right Ride In general, bikes are broken down into three major categories:
Road and Racing Bikes--As a general rule, road and racing are built for speed and longer distances on paved surfaces. Thinner tires, lightweight 29-inch (700c) wheels and drop bars that allow for a more aerodynamic position are the norm. Most road bikes, regardless of price, offer many gears for tackling both hilly and flat terrain.
Mountain Bikes--With their larger tires, hill-friendly gearing and upright position, mountain bikes are very popular for all types of riding, both on pavement and off. Mountain bikes that are designed specifically for rugged trail use typically feature a suspension fork. Some may have rear suspension, as well. A quick change of the tires on any mountain bike--even one that you use regularly on trails--adds to its versatility and makes it a worthy street machine.
Comfort/Cruiser Bikes--For tooling around on bike paths, light trails, or for cruising a quiet beach-side lane, comfort/cruiser bikes are the ticket. With a super-relaxed riding position, padded seats, and limited or no gearing, these bikes are made for enjoying the scenery and having fun with the family.

The Right Price A bike's price boils down to three essentials: frame materials, bike weight, and component quality and durability.
Entry-level--You'll find a wide range of comfort and cruiser bikes in this category, as well as some lower-end mountain bikes and road bikes. Most will have steel frames and components that are designed to last for several years with frequent use.
Mid-range--Bikes in this range may feature a lighter aluminum frame with mid-range components that keep performing after miles of use. If you're looking for a quality bike that is relatively lightweight and will stand up to abuse, this is the "sweet spot." Most serious commuter and touring bikes fall into this category, as do mid-range mountain bikes with a decent front suspension.
High-end--Racers and serious enthusiasts who expect lightweight, high-performance components will want to stick to this category. For road bikes, exotic frame materials (carbon fiber, titanium) and ultra-lightweight components can add thousands to the price tag. Mountain bikes in this class often feature advanced front and rear suspension technology, as well as components designed to handle lots of rugged trail action.

The Right Size Fit is crucial for comfort, control, and proper power and endurance on a bike. Here are some basic bike fit tips:
Stand-over Height--To find out if a bike's overall height fits your body, measure your inseam. Next, determine how much clearance you'll need between your crotch and the top tube of the bike. For a mountain bike, you'll want three to five inches of clearance. A road bike should offer between one and two inches of clearance, while a commuter bike should have two to four inches. Compare the stand-over height for a given bike to your measurements (inseam + clearance) to determine the right bike height.
Top Tube Length--You can measure your torso to get a good estimate of proper top tube length. First, make a fist and extend your arm. Measure from the center of your fist to the end of your collarbone (the part that intersects your shoulder). Next, measure your torso by placing a book against your crotch with the spine facing up. Measure from the spine to the bottom of your throat (the spot between your collarbones). Finally, add the two measurements (arm length + torso length), divide the number in half and subtract six inches. This is your approximate top tube length. Compare this number to a bike's posted top tube length. You can allow for about two inches longer or shorter, as most bikes can be adjusted via stem length/height and saddle fore/aft position to make fine adjustments to the fit.
Bikes for Women--Proportionally, women tend to have a shorter torso and longer legs than men. Bike makers design women's bikes that offer a shorter top tube and many comfort/cruiser bikes built for women may also provide more stand-over clearance.

The Right Accessories When you make a bike purchase, don't forget these crucial add-ons:
Helmet (this is a must!)
Seat pack
Lock
Hydration pack, or water bottles and bottle cages
Spare tubes
Portable bike pump
Gloves

Men's Forge Saranac CM Path and Trail Comfort Bike - 17.5" Review

Men's Forge Saranac CM Path and Trail Comfort Bike - 17.5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this bike a few months ago for exercise and neighborhood trips. I now have over 200 trouble-free miles on it, and I feel I have made a good choice. It is a nice comfortable ride, with a seat stem spring and a front suspension. The click-shifters work great!
Assembly was not a trivial job, and the manual did little to help. The manual was written for a range of Forge bikes, so it will be your job to find the parts of it that pertain to your bike. Be sure that you have a set of metric Alan wrenches. Most of the critical adjustments came already correct on my bike. You should only need to adjust the front brake after you have assembeled the bike.
I have added a rear luggage carrier and a bike computer to my bike. It does not come from the factory with a kickstand, and could use one. Don't forget to buy a helmet and a bike lock!
1000-MILE UPDATE: I now have 1000 miles on my bike. Except for the normal flat tires, I have had no mechanical problems. So far, this has been a very good bike for me.

New 2010 Green Kurt Kinetic Road Machine with Riser Ring, Power Computer & Floor Mat Package Review

New 2010 Green Kurt Kinetic Road Machine with Riser Ring, Power Computer and Floor Mat Package
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let's put this right up front: I don't like riding on trainers. I would rather be outside riding, but the fact is, I live in Colorado and there are a few months of the year where I have to make a decision: freeze or ride the trainer. While I don't like riding trainers, I like freezing even less.
This trainer makes it almost palatable. It is incredibly stable and smooth. The progressive resistance feels very natural, and you know you're working if you are spinning anything over about 18mph. The mat is actually fairly nice (and a real necessity if you're doing a long ride on the trainer because YOU WILL SWEAT).
They didn't really mention it in the write-up, but it has a release mechanism that makes it faster than normal to remove the bike. One of the things I hate most about a trainer is when it happens to be nice enough outside to ride, it's a pain to get the bike out easily. Cyclops has a good quick release, but I'm riding this one because I've seen too many cyclops that leak. Anyway, this release isn't as elegant as the cyclops, but you don't have to turn the bolt 100 times to release the bike.
Overall, I'm very happy with this trainer. I've got ~300 miles on it so far and I don't want to cry because it's still too cold to ride outside. One thing to note (if you're a new trainer rider), put a fan in front of you!
