(More customer reviews)I have this (disc version) hub on my longtail cargo bike. The extended bike length required replacement of the original SRAM shift cable & housing, so I downloaded the SRAM TechManual (MY10) and found the important 'cable nipple' mounting dimensions within. If you are comfortable replacing shift cables, and know how to measure (millimeters) using a ruler, you too will be able to change the cable, although it requires more patience than standard cable setups.
It took me a few tries and configurations to get the right combination of keyed washers installed. (This might be due to the PMW dropouts I used.) I ended up modifying the washers slightly so they would LOCK the axle securely into the dropout without the need for a lot of torque applied to the axle nuts that hold the wheel on.
What SRAM doesn't say in their manual is that "you don't want ANY axle rotational movement, and the keyed washers (NOT axle nut torque) must insure this." High torque tightening the axle nuts results in uneven shift engagement, excessive noise in some gears, and also makes wheel removal/replacement more trouble than it should be.
Most customer complaints are probably due to this issue.
After over 1000 miles of daily commuting & cargo hauling on streets, sidewalks, dirt roads, and a small amount of single-track, I'm liking this hub.
Pros; Shifting at a standstill is a very convenient feature when Commuting! Or rather, waiting at stoplights.
TOTALLY silent when coasting.
Quick disconnect shift cable makes for super easy wheel removal/reinstall.
Cons; Weighs a ton (actually it's a little over 5 lbs.)
Correct use of keyed washers to prevent ANY axle rotation poorly explained in documentation.
Replacing shift cable is a little fussy.
